Domingo “Dominic” Luberto
The Jamaica Plain man who gained fame by decking his mansion with a half million Christmas lights got lit up by a judge who ordered the deadbeat dad to reimburse the state for $40,000 in unpaid child support.
“The substantial weight of the evidence indicates a failure to pay (with the exception of $90.00) between 1985 and 1994,” Middlesex County Probate Judge William F. McSweeney III wrote in his decision, dated Feb. 11, against Domingo “Dominic” Luberto.
McSweeney found Luberto, 57, in contempt for failing to pay $39,767 in child support to his ex-wife and three kids after his 1985 divorce, forcing them to go on welfare.
“I don’t owe anything to anyone. I am not going to pay anybody,” a defiant Luberto said yesterday, vowing to appeal the decision.
The state Department of Revenue, which got the judge’s ruling yesterday, said it’s mulling seizing Luberto’s wages and bank accounts to collect another $80,000 in penalties and interest.

Lights on house drew many to Jamaica Plain
Luberto made headlines in 2006 when he festooned his $2.1 million home with 250,000 lights. The following year he made international news when he doubled the number of lights on his manse and added a 10-foot, 650-pound crown, drawing the ire of neighbors and city officials.
